Photos Discovered in Secret Attic

At the Swallows Campus there is a secret attic! What looks like a cupboard door in Mrs Higginson's office actually leads into a vast attic with its own window. In there are all kinds of treasures from the past. The most fascinating are boxes of documents and photos left behind by the school's founder, Reverend Kenelm Swallow M.C.

Children's History Society

Mrs Pepper, Head of History, runs a very popular history club for the children at Hales so where better to look for interesting things than the Swallows attic. Among other things she discovered on her most recent trip was the 1946 Inspection report for the School, hundreds of photos of the School in the 1920s, photographs of Swallow as a boy and one of his brother who was killed in WW1, and a more recent photo from the early 1970s. The huge chap holding the two boys on his shoulders was ex England Rugby captain Fran Cotton, who taught at the school during this period. One of the boys on his shoulders is Ian Thomas, now a parent with own children at the School.
