The Deputy Head, Mrs Anne Wilson, has taught in both
the state and independent sectors since qualifying as a teacher
in 1978. She is a graduate of Durham University where she specialised
in English and Physical Education.
Her career began at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Church High School, teaching
girls aged seven to eighteen. Subsequent moves led to her teaching
at Manchester High School for Girls, St Joseph’s College
Ipswich and Norwich High School for Girls.
She is married with three children and when they were young she
took several years away from full-time working but continued in
the classroom as a supply teacher until going back, firstly part-time
to Solihull School and then full-time at Warwick School.
She worked for 12 years at Warwick Junior School and became a
member of the Senior Management Team as Head of Lower School. As
a junior school teacher she has taught all the main academic subjects
but her main interest has always been teaching English as well
as coaching various sports particularly hockey and tennis.
The move to King Henry VIII Junior School as Deputy Head came
in January 2006 and with the departure due to promotion of the
then Headmaster, she was acting head during the transition
year leading to the merger of the Junior School with Coventry Preparatory
School. “Being involved from the outset with the new merged
school is an exciting prospect and I am greatly looking forward
to the future of this new venture as I am sure it will benefit
the independent education sector within the City of Coventry and
surrounding region.”
