Emma Curran joined the staff at Coventry Preparatory School
in September 2005. She obtained a Bachelor of Education 2:1 (Honours)
from Leicester University in 1991, her major subjects were P.E.
and Language, specialising in the 3-8 age range. She has obtained
several sports coaching badges including Football, ASA Swimming
Teaching awards, Short Tennis leader and lifesaving.
Her first teaching post was as a Reception class teacher in a
large primary school in Coventry. She moved into Year 2 where she
took responsibility as phase leader for six Year 1 and 2 classes.
She was also P.E. co-ordinator for the school (4 – 11).
Mrs Curran has taught in several schools in Coventry and Warwickshire
in a variety of roles and throughout the primary age range. More
recently she taught in a large multi-cultural school where she
co-ordinated the support for children with English as an additional
language. Her other responsibilities included leading the literacy
and P.E. teaching for Key Stage 1.
Mrs Curran was a county swimmer and trained for many years with
the City of Coventry Swimming Club. She continues to enjoy exercise
especially jogging, swimming and cycling. She also spends a lot
of time supporting her three sons in their various activities.
