Mrs. J. Coles was appointed at Coventry Foundation Junior School in January 1979 as Director of Music after studying in London, and working in Denmark. She enjoys all Music.
Subsequently she became the driving force in the modernisation
of Maths teaching and learning at King Henry VIII Junior School.
In 1999, after her appointment as Mathematics Co-ordinator, she
gained an M.Sc degree in Primary Mathematics Education, from Warwick
University. She has enabled children to take part in the Primary
Maths Challenge competitions. To support the teaching and learning
of all children in Mathematics, she initiated one of the first
e-learning packages. This program has been consistently upgraded,
and has run extremely successfully for a number of years, in raising
both skill and confidence of children in Maths. She currently teaches
Mathematics and R.E.
In 2003 she was invited to become a Schools' Inspector, both for
Music & Arts subjects, and Maths & Science subjects.
Mrs Coles has always been involved in wider school life, she spent 17 years as the teacher representative to the Parents’ Association, and has been an LEA Governor. Running charity events in school, and beginning the May Ball, have helped support the community, and numerous charities.
Mrs Coles is proud to be part of such an inspirational school.
Proud, not only of the contribution the Maths Department has made
to the school overall, but also as a very happy parent, delighted
with the support given to pupils.
Mrs. Coles is married and has two grown up children.
