Miss Jenna Sainsbury graduated from the University of Birmingham
in 2003, having gained a BA in music and maths, and a PGCE in primary
education. Since then, she has worked in 2 state primary schools
as a music coordinator, also experiencing many varied roles and
responsibilities in areas such as RE, PSHE, Science and ICT. She
has also worked as a year group coordinator in Years 2 and 4. Her
most memorable moment before working at KHPS was directing a
production of ‘Bugsy Malone’, involving nearly 100
children, complete with splurge guns and custard pies!
During the year after graduation, Jenna worked as a teacher and
performer in Dorset (her home county), enjoying the challenge of
teaching violin and voice to children aged 5 to 18, as well as
being a member of a cabaret company performing ‘Olde Tyme
Music Hall’. She also enjoyed the privilege of working as
a music teacher and counsellor in an American summer camp – ‘Long
Lake Camp for the Arts’, situated in the picturesque Adirondack
Mountains of upstate New York. This not only gave her an insight
into the education system of another country, but also allowed
her the chance to tutor the children of some famous film stars!
Jenna’s expertise in music ranges from being a violinist
and trombonist, to singing, dancing and directing musical theatre
productions. As well as teaching music in the classroom, Jenna
enjoys organising and coordinating the many different
ensembles at King Henry VIII Preparatory School.
In her spare time, Jenna sings in a barbershop quartet, and enjoys
cookery, reading crime novels, and getting away from the city by
taking long walks in the Malvern Hills.
