After leaving Bablake School in 1990, Mrs Julia Halstead attended
The University of Northumbria in Newcastle upon Tyne, where she
gained a B.A. Honours degree in Sports Studies followed by a Postgraduate
Certificate in Education from Loughborough University.
She joined the staff of King Henry VIII Junior School in September
2002. Prior to this, she taught for four years at Bilton Grange
Preparatory School, Dunchurch and also at Canon Maggs C of E Junior
School, Bedworth, where she held the role of Physical Education
Co-ordinator.
For several years Mrs Halstead worked in her spare time with the
Teacher Training Agency to promote this career path to graduates. In
2000 her efforts were recognized by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh
at a reception at Buckingham Palace.
In her six years at King Henry VIII Junior School, Mrs Halstead
has worked predominantly as a Year 5 form tutor, but she has also
taught English, Mathematics, Geography and Games in Years 3, 4
and 6.
Mrs Halstead was appointed Head of Religious Education at King
Henry VIII Preparatory School in September 2008.
Outside of school, Mrs Halstead enjoys spending time with her husband
and two children and enjoys swimming and keeping fit.
